NT CLP government scraps Local Decision Making

Reported at www.abc.net.au: The Northern Territory’s CLP government has confirmed it will cease future negotiations for Local Decision Making (LDM) agreements, which aimed to empower Aboriginal communities, while honouring current agreements only until their expiration.

This decision has drawn criticism from the Northern Land Council, which has accused both CLP and Labor governments of treating Aboriginal policies as “political footballs.”

The CLP plans to implement a different approach focused on reforming remote community councils instead of continuing LDM initiatives.
