NSW’s largest ever build-to-rent project

Reported at www.abc.net.au: Developers have submitted an application for a $1.5 billion build-to-rent project in Marrickville, Sydney, aiming to construct nearly 1,200 rental units, including 115 affordable homes, on a site formerly occupied by a timber yard.

The project, proposed by Rent to Live Co, would involve seven apartment towers and amenities such as public outdoor spaces and retail areas, and is designed to provide more security for renters through long-term leases.

While offering the potential for increased rental supply, experts caution that build-to-rent developments often cater to higher-income tenants, despite the inclusion of affordable housing units.
