Reported at www.theguardian.com: Labor and the Coalition have reached an agreement to implement caps on political donations and campaign spending, sidelining crossbenchers during the electoral reform process.

The deal raises the individual donation cap from $20,000 to $50,000 and increases the disclosure threshold from $1,000 to $5,000, while campaign spending limits are set at $800,000 per electorate and $90 million nationwide.

Crossbench senators, including David Pocock and Kate Chaney claim the reforms could stifle political competition.
