Reported at www.sbs.com.au: Labor has announced a proposed $8.5 billion funding increase for Medicare, aiming for 90% of GP visits to be bulk-billed by 2030.
The plan includes expanding the bulk billing incentive to all Australians by November 2025 and introducing additional payments for clinics that bulk bill every patient.
Health Minister Mark Butler highlighted that this initiative seeks to address $8.3 billion in Medicare cuts made previously under the Coalition government, positioning Medicare as a key election issue.
